Erwin Wurm
6 June – 5 August 2007

The Musée d'art contemporain is dedicating a retrospective to the Austrian artist Erwin Wurm. More than a hundred works have been brought together: sculptures, installations, videos and photographs which all, with great humor, highlight the absurdity of everyday life.

Through surprising stagings, objects are swollen to the point of bursting, or proposals for incongruous actions. Wurm invites the viewer to enter his world which is both funny and scathing.

This retrospective exhibition presents a large collection of works produced from the early 1990s to today. An astonishing work has also been specially produced for Lyon: Truck. Placed outside the museum, the piece seems to have backed up against the facade wall until it climbs back up onto it.
